What this tool removes
The cleaner targets XML <metadata> content, common RDF, Dublin Core, Creative Commons, Inkscape and Sodipodi metadata structures, related namespace attributes and XML comments. Normal SVG shapes, paths, groups, gradients, text and presentation attributes are kept.
Why remove SVG metadata?
Removing unnecessary metadata can make an SVG easier to share and inspect and can reduce the amount of authoring information carried with a file. It is also useful when you want a cleaner production asset rather than a document that retains editor-specific history or descriptive data.
Local processing and privacy
The SVG is parsed and cleaned in your browser. NeroTool does not intentionally upload the SVG source to a NeroTool processing server. The cleaned result is generated locally and can be copied or downloaded to your device.
Metadata removal is not sanitization
Metadata removal and security sanitization are different tasks. Removing metadata does not remove scripts, event handlers or every potentially unsafe reference. If you receive SVG files from untrusted sources, use an SVG sanitizer and apply appropriate security controls when storing or serving them.
